Missing child clearinghouses are required to track cases of missing children (and in some states, adults as well) and to provide resources to missing children, searching families, law enforcement and and related professionals.  However, all clearinghouses do not offer the same resources.  Consequently parents and caregivers should contact their clearinghouse to find out what assistance is available.  If a child has gone missing to another state, then parents and caregivers should also contact the clearinghouse in that second state in an effort to determine additional services that may enhance the search effort.  AMECO member organizations often act as a liaison to clearinghouses to assist the families of missing children and local law enforcement who lead the case investigation.

Currently all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Canada and the Netherlands have missing child clearinghouses.
