Services Provided by AMECO Member Organizations PDF Print E-mail

Available services vary with each AMECO member agency.  AMECO members are independent nonprofit organizations that have as their primary mission any one or more of the following:

  • Assist searching families and/or law enforcement in the recovery of missing children.
  • Assist missing/exploited children and their families to gain access to services.
  • Prevent children from becoming missing or exploited through prevention and education services for families, law enforcement or other appropriate entity.

Generally AMECO member organizations provide one or more of the following services:

Flyers/Posters - Create, print and/or distribute posters

Community Notification - Work with media and community resources to publicize missing children

Rewards - Provide direct funds to finance rewards

Search - Provide on-site physical assistance to law enforcement and/or families in the search and recovery efforts on a missing person case (including coordinating community searches, tracking volunteers, mapping search areas and coordinating other search resources)

Analysis - In conjunction with law enforcement, provide a detailed inquiry or systematic analysis of information related to a missing person

Family Support - Provide basic needs as identified by the family during the search phase

Case Assistance - Register and administer a missing person's case by providing a direct service, including acting as a liaison between families and law enforcement or media and providing referrals for appropriate services.

Post Recovery Support - Assist with community referrals and identification of the appropriate treatment professionals and family reintegration support.

ID Kits - Provide kits to record vital information about the child

Prevention Education Programs - Conduct presentations and classes that educate children, parents, educators and community members about child safety and/or internet safety.

Educational Materials - Produce and/or distribute educational publications and other media (kits, DVDs, etc.)

Law Enforcement Training - Provide curriculum to law enforcement agencies and their affiliated partners.

Advocacy - Work to effect change to protect children.
