September is "Back to School" season, and an important time for communities and families to discuss child safety. Below are some examples of how AMECO members have been doing just that.

• Child Find Alberta has a downloadable PDF on their website titled "Back to School Safety Tips" that outlines ways children can keep safe while commuting to and from school. This is a handy tool that parents and educators can download and save or print and hang up as a reminder to their children.

• As part of their Spotlight on Safety series, Missing Children's Network also has a downloadable PDF on their website. Tips include using the buddy system and playing the “What if” game with your child.

• Morgan Nick Foundation used their Facebook page to educate families by linking to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's "Know the Rules...For Going To and From School." AMECO members work with our national partners to share resources and ensure that each child and family is armed with the information they need.

• Nevada Child Seekers are teaming up with the Cox Back to School Fair in their community to offer free child I.D. kits to families. Look for events in your community and take advantage of free child I.D. kits.

• Texas Center for the Missing published the article "Back to School: Keeping Children Safe" on their local news sites. They suggest adding your child's recent school photos to your child I.D. kit to ensure that it is up to date.
