How to Join AMECO |

To qualify for Full Membership in
AMECO, a non-profit organization (NPO) must:
1. Have a current tax-exempt
status from the IRS or from an equivalent authority in other countries.
2. Present its Articles of Incorporation.
3.
Submit a copy of a legal tax form. In the US, this is Form 990. Even
if an NPO does not meet the IRS criteria for submitting a Form 990, the NPO must fill
one out to be reviewed by AMECO prior to acceptance for membership.
4. Have been in continuous operation as a non-profit
for 2 years prior to its admission to AMECO.
5. Submit three (3) letters of reference from
community groups attesting to the contributions that this NPO is making.
One of these references MUST be from a law enforcement agency.
6.
Provide services to the community free of charge. Financial
contribution can be solicited for general support of the NPO, but there can
be no charging fee for services.
Membership Categories
Full Member:
- Meets all membership requirements.
- Pays the membership dues in full
and on time annually.
- Has voting rights.
- Has the right to use the AMECO Member Logo.
- Accepts partnership/mentoring by a full AMECO member during
the first
year as a Full Member.
Associate Member:
- Meets all membership requirements except having been a 501(3)c
for 2 years.
- Pays 75% of the full membership dues
on time annually.
- Is listed as associate member on AMECO documents.
- Has the right to use the AMECO
Member Logo provided it is clearly stated that the NPO is an associate member
of AMECO.
- Ineligible to run for the Board or to vote.
- Accepts partnership/mentoring by a full AMECO member during
the entire
time the NPO is an Associate Member of AMECO.
Prospective Member:
- Can be a newly developing NPO and AMECO can assist as the NPO
establishes its foundation (such as for a new foundation names for a
missing child).
- Pays 60% of the full dues on time annually.
- Accepts partnership/mentoring by a full AMECO member during
the entire
time the developing NPO is a Prospective Member of AMECO.
- Must use logo designed for Prospective Member.
- Has no voting rights.
- Is listed as Prospective member in AMECO documents.
AMECO Supporter:
- Institutions or individuals who do not meet the criteria for AMECO
membership but who wish to offer financial, promotional, or other
types of support to AMECO. Supporters will include for-profit ventures, small institutional
donors, and potential donors through direct mail.
- Individual supporter due is $25 per annum.
- Institutional supporter due is
$50 per annum.
- Supporters receive information and
updates about AMECO and its Membership and receive acknowledgement
in AMECO documents and website.
